EB3 Green Card
EB3 Green Card - BA or Skilled Worker
Video Transcript – The EB-3 is a Green Card application available to anyone with at least two years of professional training, academic education, or a bachelor’s degree. Unlike the H-1B graduate visa, which is limited to individuals with a bachelor’s degree or 12 years of progressive experience, the EB-3 Green Card is less restrictive.
For example, a registered nurse (RN) with just two years of vocational training would qualify for an EB-3 Green Card. Similarly, skilled professionals like carpenters, electricians, plumbers, journeymen, or artisans with the right qualifications and job opportunities could also be eligible.
Each year, approximately 140,000 employment-based Green Cards are issued, but only around 40,000 are available for EB-3 applicants. Unfortunately, this category is so popular that the annual quota is almost always exhausted, leading to a waiting period of 3 to 5 years before cases are even reviewed. Naturally, most employers aren’t willing to wait that long for a new hire to start working. That’s why it’s essential to explore other visa options to bridge the gap. Here are some ideas:
For EB-3 candidates with a bachelor’s degree or 12 years of progressive experience, the H-1B visa might be a good interim option (subject to availability). This visa allows you to work while your EB-3 application is processed. For those who don’t meet those qualifications, going back to school could be another path. Enrolling as a student can open the door to a work permit tied to a student visa. You’ll find more details on these options in the H-1B and Student Visa sections of our website.
Timing is everything when it comes to Green Card applications. The sooner you begin the process, the more secure your status in the U.S. will be. For instance, if a non-immigrant loses their job, they may need to leave the U.S. very quickly. But with a Green Card, job loss doesn’t mean giving up on your American Dream.
Getting your Green Card quickly is also important for families, especially those with teenage children. Whether your kids are academically driven or not, securing their Green Card before they turn 21 can make a big difference in their future opportunities.
Each thumbnail image you see represents a tutorial video on the EB-3 process, so dive in and learn more. The EB-3 Green Card is an excellent option, but it’s best viewed as part of a larger immigration strategy—a long-term goal rather than a starting point. That’s why I’ve put together this video series, walking you step by step through the process, to help you see where the EB-3 Green Card fits into your overall U.S. immigration journey.
In some cases, it might be worth considering advanced education. For example, if you have a bachelor’s degree, pursuing a master’s could open up more opportunities and potentially accelerate your path to a Green Card. Whether your Green Card comes through marriage, a bachelor’s, or a master’s degree, the important thing is reaching the point where you can reside permanently in the U.S.
